Beyond Regret

Certainly there are things you've done in the past that you now wish you had not done. And there are surely things you've failed to do that you now wish you had done.

Regret can be quite painful, and yet in the pain of regret there is also power. Because with each regret you have the opportunity to learn, to adjust and to improve.

When the sting of regret comes upon you, let yourself feel that sting for a moment, but only for a moment. Then take that negative energy and turn it into something positive.

Instead of continuing to wallow in painful regret, learn from your mistakes and do something about them. There is nothing you can do to change the past, yet you can indeed change the value you get from what you've done in the past.

The most positive, forward looking thing you can do with the past is to learn all you can from it. Whatever your regrets may be, move beyond them by letting their pains teach you valuable lessons.

Then step confidently ahead, wiser and more experienced, with more solid, tireless determination than ever before.

How To Deal With Negative Feedback

Let me direct you to Eric Hamm who has laid it out completely for us amateurs to get the hang of the feed back we receive and how we should deal with it.

"As human beings, we are affected by the feedback we receive from those around us. Whether good, bad or neutral, the words we hear and the tone in which they are seasoned, can have a powerful impact on how we feel about ourselves and how we see the world around us. Unlock Your Mind

We all get knotted in our own minds and we cant see things clearly. We keep thinking about something and even though we realize we are not getting anywhere, we continue to stress our mind in the same direction, with no possible end.

For times like these Doug King said

“Learn to pause…or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you.”

One of the best ways to remove the lock in your mind is to pause and get away from the problem for sometime. Take a Break like Kitkat says, it may be a few minutes, a few hours or few days. Taking a break and getting involved in some other mental stimulation can actually recharge you and your wiring which definitely allows you to get back to the problem with a much better and alert perspective.

Take a walk in the park, have a good conversation, listen to music, play with your little ones.

The reason why this works is because when we re-approach the problem after a break, we look at it with somewhat different set of assumptions. The human mind is complex remember. This allows you to back off a little bit and look at the big picture again which you might be completely missing since you were so engrossed in the details.
