start any moment

You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.

Go beyond yourself

Go beyond yourself, and worry is replaced by compassion and caring, fear is supplanted by confidence, despair is overwhelmed by love. Live beyond the concerns of self, and be astounded at how many limitations are simply no longer there.

What if?

What if you were so accustomed to thinking in terms of lack and limitation, that you were unable to see the magnificent abundance that was all around you? What if every day was beautiful and you did not realize it?

What if you were already well on the way to becoming the person you want to be, and didn't realize it?

What if every problem you encountered, gave you the strength and determination needed to turn it into an opportunity.

What if today were to end before you decided to make the very most of it?

10 things we all must figure out ourselves

1. Love – There is no official guide for falling in love, falling out of love, or dealing with the emotional intricacies of love. Love cannot be taught and it certainly cannot be forced. Love is an instinctual feeling, a powerful sentiment, one we will all find under different circumstances and must each figure out for ourselves.

2. Friendship – Some personalities simply click and others clash. Just like love, friendship is a natural process that cannot be forced. Other people can select our acquaintances for us, but over time we will find true friendship on our own. When the conversations are comfortable and relaxed and a mutual feeling of trust is apparent, true friendship has been found.

3. Loss – At some point each one of us will experience a loss in life. It could be the death of a loved one, the devastation of personal belongings, or a vicious rejection in our career. Each of us is going to naturally deal with loss in our own unique manner, some taking more time to reflect on it than others. While suggestions can be made, we must figure it out for ourselves, morn if necessary, and move on when we are ready.

4. The Short vs. Long Catch-22 – There is a paradox found in various situations where we must choose between short-term and long-term fulfillment. It governs the path we take concerning our aspirations, desires, and available opportunities. Things that seem positive in the short-term can turn sour in the long-term. Likewise, disciplined efforts to meet long-term objectives can lead to a more dull short-term existence. People can try to advise us in specific situations, but we must ultimately figure out how to manage this catch-22 for ourselves across the broad scope of our lives.

5. Self-Forgiveness – We all make mistakes. It is an inevitable element of being alive. Since we are undoubtedly our own toughest critic, we sometimes inflict unnecessary self-guilt on our conscious for certain actions we did or did not take. This typically hinders our productivity and happiness. Many self-help instructors attempt to teach self-forgiveness, but every circumstance and individual is slightly different than the next. Experience is the key. General experience in dealing with the process of trial and error across various life circumstances is really what increases our comfort level with making mistakes.

6. Life Balance – Living a healthy, rewarding life involves the simple art of balance. We must balance risk vs. reward, family and friends vs. career goals, quantity vs. quality… the list could continue indefinitely. Over time, and with enough experience, we will be able to evaluate any situation, decipher the boundary extremes and find a happy, healthy medium between these extremes.

7. Responsibility and Independence – Responsibility is not a quality instinctually instilled in all human beings. Some of us have to work really hard at leading a responsible life. The key is to realize that it is okay to assist someone, but the full burden of a responsibility should never be taken away from its owner. If it is, the owner will never learn, thus becoming forever dependent on others. Cause and effect is the ultimate guide to responsibility. “If I don’t get a job, I won’t have money to buy food.” Our success with responsibility will eventually lead to complete independence.

8. Character Identity – “Who am I?” We all have to figure this out for ourselves. Character identity is incredibly difficult to define. We all have ideas in our minds of who we are, who we want to become, or how we want to live. The single greatest gift a human being possesses is free will… our ability to think, make choices, and take action with the decisions we make. These decisions eventually mold the person we are, our character identity.

9. Betrayal – Dealing with betrayal usually sends a person on an emotional roller coaster ride. There is no practical way of preparing for it because every act of betrayal contains a different set of variables. When it happens, we are usually left asking a series of questions. Why? Is there another side to the story? Can we work through this? These are questions only the people involved can answer and deal with.

10. Happiness and Success – Happiness is doing what you love, and success is excelling at doing what you love. Nobody else can tell us how to be happy or what to love. As we progress through life we uncover these mysteries on our own. Once we have happiness figured out we can map out a course for achieving our own personalized version of success.

learning the difference

After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for paths. After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So plant your garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure… That you really are strong, And you really do have worth.

It's just the way we are

We hold on to things the tightest, when we are forced to let them go—

We always want things a certain way, when we know can’t be so.

Dreams always last the longest, when they are furthest from our reach—

And the lessons we can learn the most from, are often the very ones we teach.

The grass is always the greenest, when it lies on the other side—

And the truths we preach to others are often those we can’t abide.

We spend our time trying to see things, when perspective is one thing we lack—

And we never appreciate what we’ve got, until we can’t get it back.

We expect the whole world to give us a break, and yet ironically we’ll find—

That when others come asking us the same, we tell them they’re out of their mind.

We tell everyone what’s wrong with this world, and we do nothing to make it right—

We complain about families falling apart, and yet do nothing to keep them tight.

We preach about loving our neighbors, and we teach children right from wrong—

But we never set good examples for them, when real chances come along.

We complain about not having enough time in our lives, to do what we must do—

Yet if we were given more hours in the day, we’d use up all that, too.

We desire to be close to all those we love, yet all to often look from afar—

And when it comes to the truth do we want to change, or remain forever as we are?

Are you Limiting Yourself?

Your mind is responsible for your own version of reality. Any limitation which takes hold in your mind, is very real indeed. What is that "little voice" inside your head talking about all day? Is it holding you back, or pushing you ahead? Is it constantly saying "I could never" or "I'm always" or "I can't"? Are you busy convincing yourself of your own limitations?

Ask and find answers... but without limitations!

The Fern and the Bamboo

One day I decided to quit.... I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. ...

I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.

I gave them light. I gave them water.

The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.

Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.

And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.

But I did not quit on the bamboo".

He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.

But I would not quit.

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.

I would not quit."

He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 Feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.

I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I Would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to others."

He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the Fern, yet, they both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come, "God said to me." You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story.

I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you........

Power of Acceptance

When the world seems to be falling down around you, you can choose to fall down with it or you can choose a more positive path. Acceptance will put you on that positive path.

Fighting against negativity only produces more negativity. Yet when you accept what is, no matter how terrible and difficult it may be, you put yourself in a position to start changing it for the better.

Acceptance does not mean giving in or giving up. It means moving on, as in moving on ahead.

There is simply no point in fighting battles which have already been lost, nor is there any point in allowing the loss to continue to slow you down. The smart strategy is to accept it and then put all your energy toward a positive pursuit.

Acceptance does not mean allowing others to take advantage of you. It simply means that you look realistically at what has happened and allow yourself to see the positive opportunities that are most certainly there.

Once you accept what is, you are free to move positively forward. Once you quit fighting, you are free to start achieving.

Always Something

There is always something positive that you can do. On the best of days, or in the most challenging of circumstances, you can choose to move forward.

Conditions are not as bad as they seem, nor are conditions as good as they appear. Conditions are whatever you choose to make of them.

It's up to you to take the energy of this day and give it a specific direction. Though circumstances are constantly changing, you can always choose to move in the direction of your dreams.

Of course there are complications, challenges and obstacles. And you can use them all to create your own path forward.

You are in control of your thoughts and actions. That's a powerful place from which to operate, no matter what the outside circumstances may be.

There is always something positive, productive, enriching and fulfilling that you can do. Get up, get going, and make a difference in your own special way.

Tomorrow

You make your own tomorrow, by the actions you take today. Right now, tomorrow is open for you to shape and design. It is available for you to do with as you please. Yet you must get started today. If you let tomorrow come without your active participation in its design, chances are that it won't be completely to your liking.

Take action today, and make tomorrow whatever you want it to be.

Someday

Someday you'll discover that living brings more fulfillment than buying. Someday you'll realize that each day is a golden treasure, far too precious to be wasted pursuing someone else's idea of happiness.

Someday you'll discover that you already have enough, and will spend your time being rather than getting. Someday you'll understand the futility of taking shortcuts, and will hunger for the solid nourishment of living with integrity. Someday you'll experience the magnificent abundance which comes from giving of yourself. Someday you'll live each moment with purpose and passion.

That someday is coming. There's nothing stopping it but you. Someday life will be filled with joy and meaning. That someday can be today. Live it, and it is yours.
