Accepting your mistake and saying sorry isn't easy at all. It can really transform the clumsiest moment into a gracious gift. I totally agree.
@in search of .....: If your intentions were pure, it will reflect and the other person will know that you didn't mean to hurt them. Just be sincere when you say sorry.
